The leopard's heart raced as he ran, itching to be further away from danger. Sure, the white tigress from earlier had appeared friendly, but Tuma knew she was waiting to strike. She would probably eat him and then have his rabbit for dessert.
Tuma's frantic fears came to a hault as his paws did. The ground dipped away from his paws, and the leopard was looking down into a small ravine, a tiny creek flowing at the bottom. A few bushes clustered together, making a seemingly safe haven. His heart slowed, just looking at the sight. Tuma's tail raised in pleasure, the end twitching in excitement. There was no sign or scent of any enemies either. Here would be a safe place to reside. For now.
~ ~ ~
Tuma swallowed his last bite of rabbit, and he licked his jaws in satisfaction. The meal had taken the edge off his hunger, but the leopard needed to eat a real meal soon. His ribs showed, and there was a hungry gleam in his eyes, even though at a sight of something more dangerous would quickly make him fearful. Tuma scented the area again before laying down to rest. He didn't scent anything, but that didn't mean there wouldn't be danger. He lay his head on his paws, his collar pushing uncomfortably against his neck. He closed his eyes, but no sleep came. He was only resting with his ears perked.

OOC//:I'm going to bring Anna in. The Murder Apes released her but she can't find her way to Zonta yet.
AnnaWhere has my life gone?
Darkness. Pain. Death. Three things the tigress had swimming together in her soul. No more feeling, whether emotional or physical, reached her being. Why should she care anymore? Her son was gone, killed by her lack of attention. Her one true love was gone, dead without ever knowing her inner desires. Her life no longer mattered. All she could do was pray Dio would end this torture soon.
The scent of rabbit mingled with leopard, but Anna barely noticed. If the leopard were a threat, which is hoped he was, she wouldn't fight. No more spark was in her soul. No more desire to love and be loved. She didn't stop her walking, but instead curved slightly to be heading towards the predator. End me, I beg of you. She sent her silent words to Dio. Let this leopard be strong. [/blockquote]

The sound of crunching footsteps disturbed Tuma's rest, and immediately his head shot up. His eyes darted around, looking for the source of sound. His amber gaze fell on a tigress, and she was headed for him. His heart pounded, and Tuma leapt to his paws, his fur bristling. It wasn't in anger though, it was an uneasy, frightened bristle.
He backed up further into brush he had slept under. The tigress was coming closer, and Tuma knew she was in earshot. He cleared his throat, summoning his courage. "Please, leave me alone. Don't hurt me." His voice was pathetic, and he whimpered at the end of his words. He was cowering in a bush, and the rustling of leaves from his trembling could be heard.

The tigress couldn't surpress her surprised glare at the whimper behind the words. This leopard was of no threat, and this masocistically upset her. "Hurt you? I was hoping you'd be the danger to me." she mumbled, stopping midstep and falling back onto her rump. Her head hung low as she slouched where she sat, eyes closed in defeat. "Please tell me you are not opposed to murder. It seems everyone I come by is against themselves killing another simply on request. They need a damn reason; aka, I need to attack them....which I wouldn't do." her own voice was beyond pathetic, more of a sob then the whimper the leopard had emitted.

Tuma watched the tigress, and when she heard his words she stopped and sat down. He listened to her speak, and he felt immense relief. But he was still curious to her strange behavior.
"Why do you want to die? You're the fiercest predator around." Tuma asked. He wasn't sure if the tigress was faking depression, or if she really was. He could be falling into her trap. She could be trying to trick him and surprise attack him. He stalled, trying to make small talk.

The tigress looked up with a deep fierocity, the question burning her deep into the soul. The topic brought forth fury, but none directed towards the stranger, only towards herself. "Oh, maybe because I failed my son and the one I love." she snapped. "The three of us were fighting Murder Apes, and I got shot down with one of those sleepy darts. Without my extra paws, they didn't have a chance." her voice, however angry and strong they had been at the beginning, got softer and weaker with each word. "My son is dead because I was taken down. And then the one I loved is dead, without ever even knowing how I felt for him." her sitting position dropped roughly to that of a laying position, her eyes not fully closed, but narrowed. She lay in silence, not even sobbing. She was beyond feeling depression to the point of tears now. She was all dried up inside.

As the tigress told her short story, Tuma couldn't help but think of Alia. He had failed to save her too. The last he had seen of her was her frightened expression as her crate slid off the monster carrying them. Then she was gone. Tuma had no idea if his sister was still alive or not. But a gut feeling told him she was. She was strong and young.
"Are you sure they're dead? You said you were shot with a sleepy dart. How do you know for sure?" Tuma asked, forgetting his fears for his life. He could suddenly relate to the tigress, and his compassionate side was beginning to show.

Anna looked to the male, not bothering to lift her head. It wasn't even worth the effort. "I wish I could think anything different. My son, Ahote, he was so young and had never fought before. And then Onida was so dedicated to my son that he probably threw his life away for him, which left the murder apes to finish off Ahote. The only possible way for the two to have escape the many Murder Apes is if the Murder Apes let them go, which we all know won't happen." Even when her own Murder Apes had released her, it had been after months of solitary torture. She shuddered visibly. She hoped her son and love were dead and not going through the horrors she had just endured.

Tuma was stumped. How could he help this depressed tigress? He swallowed, and sat down, but he made no move to physically comfort the large she-cat. "Well, miracles happen. Who knows, maybe Dio saved them."
It was all Tuma could think to say. He prayed to Dio that Alia was saved. That she was alive somewhere. The leopard had no idea how true his hopes were.

The tigress hesitated, opening her eyes but didn't lift her head. Her gaze fell upon th leopard male. "Maybe." she finally agreed, feeling that one word lift some of the sorrow. There was a moment of silence as she studied the beast. "What about you? You have something on your mind." she paused before lifting her head and giving a gentle, yet playful, grin. "I'm a mother. Reading expressions is what I do best. You gotta know when a cub is plotting or keeping a secret." she left the explanation at that, letting her playful grin turn to one of gentle reasurment.

Tuma felt better when he saw the tigress brighten up. By now he had forgotten all his fears of her. She seemed friendly enough, so he pushed his doubts behind him. When the questions were turned on him, the leopard felt a moment of hesitation. But he decided to tell her anyway, she had told him her story in a nutshell.
He inhaled deeply before beginning to tell his story. "My sister and I were captured by Murder Apes when we were cubs. I don't remember a whole lot, but my sister, Alia, and I were put in separate crates. Then we were loaded on a monster, and somewhere during the trip, Alia's crate loosened and she slid off the monster. I don't know if the fall killed her, or freed her. But my gut instincts tell me she's still alive." Tuma paused, not going into the details about what happened to him. That was behind him, and anyone could tell where he had been by the collar he wore around his neck.

The smile remained as the story went on. She had heard stories like this before, and they all had happy endings. "I can pretty much guarantee she is alive, if she was able to somehow get out of the crate." she hesitated a moment, before deciding on something. "You know, now that I have a small tinge of hope my son and alpha are still alive, I'll be on the search for out pridelands. Perhaps we can stick together and search fo Alia in the process." she left the offer at that, not minding whether the cat accepted or declined.

The thought of having a travel companion brightened Tuma. Someone to talk to, hunt with, search for loved ones with. They could defend and protect each other. Tuma's thoughts flew, and he felt excited to have run across this tigress.
"I would like that. Thank you, -" He cut off, realizing he didn't even know his new friends name. He paused, his lips curving into a grin at this slight problem.

I blinked in welcome as the male thanked me, and was about to thank him as well when I realized he had cut off at the end. I considered what he might want, and when it hit me, I grinned along with him. "How rude am I? I was so far down in my pitiful pool of depression I didn't even introduce myself." I bowed down in a warm manner. "My name is Anna." I then sat back and waited for the leopard to release his own name.

Anna. That was an easy name to remember. In fact, it was the only name he had to have remember in a while. He never made friends with the cats he ran across. He smiled at her little bow, and then he introduced himself.
"I am Tuma. It's a pleasure to meet you, Anna." The leopard mewed, his voice warm and showing his friendly side. He seemed to have a split personality, cowardly and scared, or friendly and kind. He hoped Anna would grow accostumed to this, he wouldn't be the best opponent if the two came across trouble. He would rather turn and flee than fight boldly. Tuma hoped he and Anna would never come to that, because how could he protect his companion? He kept his mouth shut, deciding not to say anything on the matter.
