Kahlia ambled along, hoping to find a nice place to rest. She was extremely exhausted, malnourished, and thirsting to death. She was too weak and tired to try hunting at the moment, and she didn't see any water. Before she knew it, she was lying on the cold ground, for how long she didn't know. She had collapsed from hunger, and she felt that it was only a matter of time before vultures would be nipping at her corpse. However, she always tried to have a positive thinking to things, and so she figured a little bit of rest would do her good, and she would have enough strength to hunt small prey, such as a rabbit, when she awoke.

Tuma carried his rabbit somewhat proudly, though he had no one to boast to, if he even would brag. He was mostly an unsuccessful hunter, so when he startled this rabbit, he had the upper paw and caught it.
Now the leopard looked for a nice shady spot to eat, and as he padded through some brambles, the cat suddenly froze. Ahead lay a large white tiger, and it appeared to be asleep.
Tuma fearfully laid down, not knowing how to get around the larger, more dangerous feline. He set the rabbit down and stayed lowed to the ground, trying to find away to get around. Or he could just go back, but Tuma didn't want to have to retrace his steps. He was sure Alia was somewhere in this direction.

After a couple hours of rest, Kahlia awoke to the scents of a rabbit, and another feline close by. She stood up, stretched and yawned, then looked around, trying to locate the source of the odors. Unable to locate anything by sight, she gave up, figuring it was just her imagination. She sighed heavily with disappointment, and tried to slowly walk aimlessly until she might find something to eat. She had only taken a few steps when her mind started working against her, and she just had to turn back. She started following what she believed to be an imaginary scent, and soon she discovered that the scent was a rabbit, and that it was the prey of another feline - a bit of a smaller feline. Again she sighed, but she didn't give up hope. If this big cat had found a rabbit, maybe she could, too. The only problem was that Kahlia had no clue where the predator had found its prey.

Tuma froze when the tiger stirred and began to scent the air. He felt a little relief when it turned to go the other way, but then the large white she-cat turned around, headed in his direction.
The leopard tensed, and for some reason that he couldn't explain, a growl rose from Tuma's throat. He felt like an idiot for growling, now the tiger would probably kill him to get his food. Tuma started to rise, ready to run if the tiger was going to steal his rabbit.

Kahlia stiffened when she heard the growl. Unable to gather her thoughts, she spoke almost out of fear, "Who's there?" The tone of her voice had a hint of an accent to it, and was soft but almost commanding at the same time. Was she being watched, or stalked like the prey she smelled? Whatever was happening, Kahlia didn't think she wanted to be a part of it. She looked around for any signs of movements, but she still saw none.

Tuma stood up straight, and trembled with fear. "It's just me. Please don't hurt me." He pleaded, shrinking back a little. "You can even have my rabbit. Just don't hurt me."
His pleas were pitiful, and the leopard shook. Tuma mildly thought of what Alia would do in this situation. She probably wouldn't be scared, but most of what Tuma thought about his sister seemed to come from memories of when she was a cub. That was a year and a half ago, Alia could be a completely different cat now.
Tuma pushed away the thoughts of his sister, he always thought of her at the randomest times. He took a step away from the larger tiger, ready to run if she decided to attack.

Kahlia smiled awkwardly as she noticed the fear in this feline's voice as well as her own. She was a bit stunned at his pleas, and very confused. Relaxing her tensed muscles, she replied, "Hurt you? Have your rabbit? I would never. I do, however, want to know where you found your prey. I hunger for a decent meal." When she saw that the other feline had stepped back, she sat down to prove that she was no immediate threat. She only had hope for a soon-to-be meal, and things seemed like they only got better.

Tuma had kept his gaze locked on the tiger, looking for any sudden movement. He listened to her words, not believing them at first, although her voice was kind.
The leopard stayed where he was, and when the tiger finally sat down, he relaxed just a little, but he was still on guard. It took him a long time to earn other's trust.
"I found it a little ways back there. It just sprang out of no where, so I couldn't tell you where a rabbit run would be." Tuma answered, his voice slightly shaky.

Kahlia's smile faded as the strange cat explained the whereabouts of the rabbit. The only thing she had left to do was to look, and she had no idea where to do so. Saddened once again, she hung her head low, mumbled, "Well, thanks anyway," then stood up and did what no other might have done in this situation; she turned around, her back facing the leopard, and walked away. She was limping on her front right paw, and her stomach was upset. Rather than scaring the leopard any more than she already had, she gave up, and for the first time in her life, she had no hope for the future.

Something stirred inside Tuma. What was it? Pity? Compassion? He wasn't sure, never having felt it before. It was always the other cat helping him.
"Wait!" Tuma said, though he was still slightly fearful of the tiger. He picked up the rabbit and began to walk after her. He shouted again for her, though his voice was muffled.

Kahlia stopped and turned her head around, wondering what was going on. Why did the leopard make her wait? He was carrying his prey in his mouth as he came towards her, but Kahlia wasn't thinking straight, and so she didn't put the two clues together. Even more confused than before, Kahlia slanted her eyes and tilted her head curiously. "What is it?" She managed to say though her short and shallow breaths.

Tuma hesitated, then set down the rabbit. "I could help you hunt." He said shyly. He would hate to see the other tiger go hungry, especially since she was just as thin as him.
"Or we could share this rabbit, and try to catch something else and share that too." Tuma offered. He still trembled a little, but not as badly as before.

((Rose, I'm going to move Tuma to another board. I know you said you'd be gone long, but I want to roleplay him. Maybe when you get back you can have Kahlia follow him or something...))
Tuma shyly pushed the rabbit towards Kahlia. "Here, take the whole thing, I can catch something on my own." He couldn't read her expression, but the leopard had encountered more than enough evil cats who could hide their emotions well. Maybe the tigress was hiding her hatred and was waiting to spring at him.
The leopard pulled his paw away from the rabbit, turned and fled. He was headed north, where the land was colder and the prey scarcer. But Tuma didn't think of that, he was only trying to escape.
